Description | Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of coding including Interventional Radiology. Demonstrates experience by correlating coding accuracy with correct APC assignment. Complies with all aspects of the Coding Corporate Compliance standards. Monitors DNFB daily for outstanding or uncoded discharges to reduce accounts receivable days. Abides by the standards of ethical coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements | Must have High School diploma or equivalent, AHIMA approved coding certification course and Associate’s Degree in HIT. Must have RHIT, CCA, CCS, CCS-P and be a member of American Health Information Management Association and/or American Academy of Professional Coders. Must have 3 yrs coding experience in day surgery and 23 hour observation coding. Must have an excellent understanding of medical terminology, disease process and anatomy and physiology. Must have an excellent understanding of ICD-9-CM coding classification. Must have an excellent understanding of APC reimbursement system and CPT coding system. Must have Computer skills (ie MS Office). Must demonstrate competency in the use of computer applications and APC grouper software, Medicare audits, CCI edits, and all Coding and Abstracting software currently used by Health Information Department. Must have good Organizational skills. Must have good Communication skills. Must have comprehensive understanding of Interventional Radiology coding. Must be task oriented and able to meet designated deadlines and productivity standards. Must have strong Interpersonal skills and excellent Customer Service skills. Must be punctual and demonstrate a professional image.
